ABOUT US:
![]() Husband and wife team Craig Utting and Elizabeth Sneyd founded the Music Learning Centre in 2005. Based around their home in Tawa, the Music Learning Centre is wonderfully resourced, with two music rooms featuring grand, upright and digital pianos, as well a restored harmonium and stringed instruments of every variety. There is a vast music library, including thousands of scores. Craig and Elizabeth are both musicians with many years experience and expertise in many facets of music. Craig is an established composer, arranger and music typesetter. He has an M.Mus. in composition and was a finalist in all three of the NZSO's Douglas Lilburn Composition Competitions. He typesets music for major European publishers, and plays viola in the Wellington Orchestra. He also enjoys teaching his many highly talented piano, music theory and composition students. Elizabeth has played violin in professional orchestras, in both America and New Zealand, for the past 24 years. She led the University of Wisconsin Orchestra and was a first violinist in the Madison Symphony and Wisconsin Chamber Orchestras, while she studied for her Ph.D. in Mathematics and minor degree in Music. She has also been a first violinist in the Wellington Orchestra for several years. Recently Elizabeth has been focusing on music teaching, chamber music, and of course her five young children. She enjoys taking the Smart Music classes and tutoring violin students from three-year-old beginners to advanced performers. Both Craig and Elizabeth are founding members of the professional Albatross String Quartet. |
